You chose correctly!

By choosing this image, you have correctly identified the legitimate text from the examples.

Why is this legit?

This text is legitimate only if you requested the code.

  • Calm: Simple message that only provides you with a verification code.
  • Phone Number: The contact number is not an out-of-the-ordinary number or a random email address.
  • No Rushing or Mysterious Link: Some of these Two-Factor-Authorization may say, “Code Valid for 30 Minutes,” or something similar, and that’s fine. If it were to say something like, “Use this code or your account will be deleted,” that’s not fine.

BE VIGILANT!

If you did not request the code from the brand mentioned or did not even recently use the service, then someone is likely attempting to login to your account.

What do I do if someone is attempting to login to my account?

  • You need to go to open a web browser and search for their official page. From there, you will need to login with your credentials (and use the 2FA code you will then receive).
  • After successfully logging in, you need to reset your password.
  • If the option is available, choose to “log-out everywhere.” This is a fail-safe in case the criminal has successfully accessed your account. Resetting your password will log every device out but doubling down with a “log-out everywhere” function can be reassuring.

Never allow a text to rush you, scare you, and in most cases, excite you. If it’s too good to be true…
